3 Reasons Why Homeowners Love Ductless Systems

Insights from Trusted HVAC Technicians in Pennsylvania

When homeowners are looking for ways to cut costs and improve their quality of life, a good place to start is their HVAC system. If you are still using a central HVAC unit, which relies on complex duct systems to heat and cool your home, you might consider switching to a ductless solution. Homeowners throughout Pennsylvania are making the switch and loving the results, which offer numerous benefits in terms of cost, efficiency, and wellbeing of a home’s occupants.

3 Reasons Why Ductless Systems Are Catching On

Though ducted HVAC units are still quite common throughout Pennsylvania, more and more homeowners are discovering the benefits of switching to a modern ductless system. There are countless benefits from this, but we have identified three key ones which we believe clearly demonstrate why you should consider a ductless HVAC unit:

  • Save money: Central HVAC systems take an all or nothing approach to heating and cooling your home. Even though you can close vents in certain rooms to redirect air to other places, this is an inefficient system which still uses a lot of energy to work. Especially if you have a larger home, much of that square footage is unused on a daily basis, meaning you are needlessly paying to heat and cool empty areas. To add to this, a great deal of hot or cool air gets lost as it travels through a home’s ducts, requiring the HVAC system to overcompensate for these inefficiencies with greater energy consumption. A ductless system eliminates these inefficiencies by giving you more direct control over how your home is heated and cooled, cutting power consumption and saving you money.
  • Better air quality: While most homeowners do not realize this, the indoor air quality of a home can often be worse than the outdoors. A significant contributor to this can be an HVAC system’s ducts, which not only accumulate and then recirculate dust and other particulates but can also be more susceptible to letting pollutants into a home. This is in part because of where HVAC systems are often installed in homes—the basement or garage—where they are more likely to be exposed to exhaust, mold, and dust.
  • Easier to install and maintain: Compared to typical HVAC units, ductless systems are a dream to install and maintain. Ducts are complicated and require extensive work throughout your home when being put in. This also makes troubleshooting issues, cleaning and other maintenance needs extremely difficult, time consuming and expensive. Ductless units are far simpler, only requiring access to the unit itself in order to fix issues, replace filters or clean it. This makes the system a breeze both when it is being installed and over the course of its lifetime.
